NEW CRIMINAL LAWS PRIORITIZING JUSTICE, SECURING CITIZENS THROUGH TECHNOLOGY

India has taken a monumental step towards fortifying its legal framework and safeguarding its citizens with the enactment of three pioneering legislations - the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023. These transformative laws are designed to overhaul the criminal justice system, enhance citizen security and leverage technology to combat emerging challenges effectively. These New Criminal Laws have come into effect from 1st July, 2024.

The primary objective is to revamp India's criminal laws to align with modern - day realities. The new criminal laws aim to prioritize the rights and welfare of victims, especially those from vulnerable sections like women, children and marginalized communities. By introducing stringent provisions, expedited investigative processes and deterrent punishments, this law seeks to instill a renewed faith in the criminal justice system.
